The end of the year is the scariest time to be unemployed. It seems
that everyone stops hiring at the end of the year. I’ve been there, and I
know exactly how it feels.
In “honor” of my seventh anniversary of being laid off in October,
I’m doing a special edition of Netmasters. This month I am focusing on
networking skills for job seekers. If you currently have a job and want
options, there will be material for you as well.
We’re going to cover:
1. Planning a job search
2. Identifying companies to target
3. How to set up and hold an informational interview
4. Social media for job seekers
We will have a special guest speaker, Chris Cooks, the best employed networker I know. He’ll talk to us about why he networks, even though he’s happy with his current job.
